Volunteer fire chief faces assault charges, again
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Chief of the Northwest Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department in Brunswick County was arrested, again, on assault charges.
According to warrants obtained by WWAY, Charles Herzig was arrested on September 20 and charged with an assault on a female.
Warrants states Herzig grabbed the victim’s arms and wrists and punched her around the eye and mouth.
Herzig was arrested in March 2017 on assault and battery charges, but his case was dismissed last July.
Herzig is currently out on bond.
