Voting, customer seats, plant change bills signed by NC gov

RALEIGH, NC (AP) — North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory has put his signature to more than a dozen additional bills, including those addressing an upcoming voter identification requirement and sitting at convenience stores with biscuits and coffee.

McCrory announced Wednesday he had signed into law 12 pieces of legislation. The list didn’t mention a bill signed Monday that will allow more registered voters to vote in person even without a qualifying form of photo ID. McCrory’s office said last week he would sign that measure.

Another new law allows certain food businesses to provide tables and some seats for customers to eat and drink what they purchased and avoid some requirements restaurants must meet.

Other signed legislation seeks to accelerate regulatory decisions so a Duke Energy plant can convert from coal to natural gas.
