ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — Vulcanair Aircraft North America is on schedule to open a new aircraft manufacturing facility in Elizabethtown later this summer.

The company says the building in the industrial park at Curtis L. Brown Jr. Airfield is the first factory dedicated to the production of training aircraft in the US in more than 25 years.

Construction of the 36000 square-foot factory began in January, and is progressing on schedule for a grand opening on September first.

It will be the north American assembly site for the Vulcanair V1, a high-wing training aircraft currently produced in Italy. The US plant will have the capacity to produce up to a hundred aircrafts per year.
