Waccamaw School dismisses early due to nearby controlled burn

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Waccamaw School is dismissing students at 10:30 a.m. Friday due to smoke from a nearby controlled burn.

Brunswick County Schools said the burn is taking place at a development currently under construction near the school.

Officials said the decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of students and staff.

All afternoon activities at Waccamaw School have been canceled.
