Walmart adds online grocery service to two area locations

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Like to shop for groceries at Walmart but hate to battle the crowds? There’s some good news.

Walmart’s online grocery service will be available starting August 31 at the Walmart Supercenters on 5135 Carolina Beach Road and 5226 Sigmon Road in Wilmington.

The service enables customers to order groceries online and pick them up at the store without ever having to leave the car.

Customers can start the process by going online to Walmart.com/Grocery or through the Walmart Grocery mobile app to select items and pickup time. Then a personal grocery shopper will fill the basket.

“If you have a lot of stuff to do, you don’t have to worry about stopping at Walmart,” Department Manager of Online Grocery Pickup Tammy Jackson said. “You can just order it and pick it up. We do the shopping for you.”

Walmart says there will be reserved parking spaces marked in orange, and a designated number to call to alert an associate for grocery pickup.

The grocery pickup is a free service, though the service does require orders to be a minimum of $30.

Other area grocery stores have similar services, but they charge a fee.
