Men accused of failing to do construction jobs after paid
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — One man has turned himself in and another is still wanted by law enforcement in Brunswick County for allegedly failing to complete construction jobs after getting paid.
Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says 45-year-old Richard Wayne Buffkin, of Supply, is charged for obtaining property by false pretense. He is accused of accepting money for jobs with East Coast Roofing and not following through with the work.
Buffkin turned himself into the sheriff’s office Wednesday. He is in the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond.
Shallotte Point Department says Anthony Paul Brooks, 51, has a history of failing to work after being paid and has recently scammed a Shallotte family out of thousands of dollars.
Brooks is wanted for felony obtaining property by false pretense and failing to Work after paid. He has his own company called Brooks Construction out of Fairmont.
