Warming centers announced across Columbus County ahead of winter storm

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — As a winter storm and prolonged cold weather approaches the Cape Fear, Columbus County officials have announced the availability of public warming centers.

These are temporary heated locations open to public during extreme cold to provide a safe place to get out of the cold.

The following warming centers will be available in Columbus County:

  • Bolton Senior Center
    • Opens Saturday at 10 a.m. until further notice
    • 15354 Sam Potts Highway, Bolton
  • Facts of Life Church
    • Open 24 hours when daytime temperatures remain below 40 degrees
    • 508 North Lee Street, Whiteville
  • Town of Brunswick Warming Center
    • Opens Saturday 8 a.m. through Monday 10:30 a.m.
    • 40 Popular Street, Brunswick
  • Fair Bluff Fire Department
    • Opens Saturday at 8 a.m.
    • 152 Main Street, Fair Bluff
  • Tabor City Courthouse
    • Opens noon Saturday – 10 a.m. Monday
    • 110 West 4th Street, Tabor City
  • Columbus County Sheriff’s Satellite Office
    • Opens Saturday at 8 a.m.
    • 352 Delco School Road, Delco
  • Cherry Grove Missionary Church
    • Opens 8 a.m. Saturday – 10:30 a.m. Monday
    • 409 Bitmore Road, Whiteville
