Wat Carolina Monastery in Bolivia faces flood cleanup efforts
BOLIVIA, N.C. (WWAY) — The Wat Carolina Buddhist Monastery in Bolivia is working to recover after recent flooding caused significant damage during Monday’s storm.
Water levels reached waist-high inside and around the temple, prompting urgent cleanup efforts.
Established in 1988, Wat Carolina serves as a teaching facility for Asian monks, who stay for about a year to study Buddhism and English.
The monastery is currently in need of cleaning supplies and equipment to aid in their recovery.
To support their efforts, a GoFundMe campaign has been created, welcoming donations to help restore the temple.
