WATCH: Video goes viral after lightning almost strikes NC teacher

LILLINGTON, NC (WNCN) — A Harnett County middle school teacher was almost struck by lightning Monday, and it was all caught on camera.

The near-miss was captured on video as the teacher was broadcasting his surroundings on Facebook Live during the storm.

Shawn Hicks, a seventh grade science teacher at Harnett Central Middle School, was trying to get some video to use in his teaching curriculum about weather.

“I think I should go inside,” Hicks said in the video before the lightning struck. “It’s amazing how it’s just clear on this side. Oh, but it’s coming.”
