WILMINGTON — Wave Transit drivers will strike Sept. 4 if their union cannot settle a dispute with management, a union leader said Thursday.
During the Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority’s meeting, Wave drivers with Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1328 told board members they have not reached an agreement with management company First Transit to fix bus maintenance problems. The union and a mediator will meet Sept. 3 with First Transit — which manages Wave Transit’s fleet and handles labor relations.
“As of Sept. 3, if things are not resolved there will be a work stoppage on Sept. 4,” Local 1328 President Terrence Dewberry told the board.
