Weekend festivities kicks off with garden party

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The City of Wilmington kicked off its fall celebrations and Riverfest weekend with a garden party at Greenfield Lake this afternoon.

 

The Greenfield Lake Collaborative hosted the event to raise funds that will support annual community and economic development projects in Greenfield Lake. 

 

This is the first event to kick off Riverfest. 

 

Mayor Bill Saffo said, "I was at the very first Riverfest many many years ago and it was a small little festival that started on the river when downtown Wilmington was still needed a lot of work and now it has transformed that something people look forward to every year."

 

Greenfield lake collaborative is a volunteer nonprofit providing economic and community development projects to Greenfield Lake Park.
