West Bladen Football picks up first win in shootout

BLADENBORO, NC (WWAY)–Monday was the beginning of what will be a wild few weeks for high school football teams in North Carolina. In a small school matchup, it was West Bladen looking for their first win on the year hosting South Robeson.

West Bladen waisted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Tyre Boykin connected in the end zone with Shy’Ron Adams to make it 6-0 Knights. South Robeson wouldn’t go down without a fight on their first offensive possession. Tyler Locklear found a wide-open Cameron Werrell through the air for the quick response to tie the game up at eight.

The 2nd quarter this one turned into a track meet as West Bladen held the 30-24 lead at the half. The Knights would hold on down the stretch for their first win on the season over South Robeson, 38-32 the final score.
