West Bladen to host Christmas basketball tournament
BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WOODMEN TOURNAMENT RELEASE) — West Bladen would like to formally announce that the fifth annual Woodmen Life Christmas Tournament will be held at West Bladen High school on December 28, 29, and 30. The tournament will consist of Whiteville, Fairmont, Scotland, East Bladen, Dillon, North Brunswick, First Flight, and host West Bladen.
West Bladen boys basketball Coach Travis Pait has this to say about the event. “We are again happy to be hosting this event. The seven teams that will be joining us are all well coached and will certainly be contenders in their respective leagues. The level of competition will certainly help prepare all of the participants for conference play. We would like to thank Mr. Jack Yates and Woodmen Life for their participation as title sponsors of this event. Woodmen is such a great organization who are always trying to give back to the community.”
Woodmen Life state manager Jack Yates had this to say: “Woodmen Life is happy to continue our association with this wonderful event. We have always put a premium on young people and their maturation. This tournament allows us to highlight the many ways that Woodmen Life is making a difference in communities across the state and nation.”
Woodmen Life is a fraternal benefit society dedicated to protecting its members and strengthening its communities. Woodmen Life has been working with young people for more than one hundred years. All though the world has changed dramatically during the past century, the basic core of our basic youth activities has remained the same; it’s all about helping kids grow up to be and do their best.

Admission is six dollars for everyone with no passes out. Concessions will be available. The tournament schedule is as follows:

- Game 3 6pm Whiteville vs First Flight
- Game 4 8pm West Bladen vs North Brunswick
Thursday Dec 29 (first team is home)
- Game 5 2pm Loser Game 1 vs Loser Game 2
- Game 6 4pm Loser Game 3 vs Loser Game 4
- Game 7 6pm Winner Game 1 vs Winner Game 2
- Game 8 8pm Winner Game 3 vs Winner Game 4
Friday Dec 30 (first team is home)
