WFD delivers 3,600 pounds of food to Nourish NC
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY-TV) – In the giving spirit, the Wilmington Fire Department delivered thousands of pounds of donated food to Nourish NC today.
The non-profit provides healthy food to children in need across New Hanover County. WFD has been collecting donations from the community since the beginning of November.
A total of 3,600 pounds of food was donated to the fire department and the city. Heather Sellgren, development and communications director at Nourish NC says the donations will help hungry children have a happier and healthier holidays.
“This is one of the most exciting days for us at Nourish NC seeing that firetruck pull into the parking lot a big thank you to chief Mason and the entire city of Wilmington,” Sellgren said.
This was the fourth year the fire department collected donations for the organization. Lasy year, WFD collected 1,700 hundred pounds of food.
