WFD: House fire the result of cooking left unattended

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – On Saturday evening, Wilmington Fire Department crews were dispatched to a structure fire at 703 South 8th Street.

Wilmington Fire responded around 9:40 in the evening to the home at 8th and Queen Street. Fire Department officials say a single story house had heavy smoke coming from the front door.

Companies were still on scene finishing overhaul and investigation into Sunday morning according to fire officials. One resident was treated and released by EMS on scene.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.

Fire was determined to be the result of unattended cooking.
