WFD offering agility testing for prospective firefighters

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Got what it takes to be a firefighter? The Wilmington Fire Department wants to test you.

A fire spokesman says the department is looking to hire next month, so they’re offering an opportunity for interested persons to attend a strength and agility course. The course will be offered Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Both sessions will be at the CFCC’s North Campus. Attendance is not mandatory to apply for the job.

Officials say those interested should come dressed in athletic gear with long pants and closed-toed shoes.

The course consists of eight tasks: room search, hose coupling, ladder climb, victim drag, ladder raise, stair/pack climb, hose drag and equipment carry.
