What if UNCW doesn’t win the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship?

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The UNCW men’s basketball will leave Wilmington on Thursday to head to North Charleston, SC for the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship. UNCW is the favorite to win the tournament. If they do it’ll mean back to back NCAA Tournament appearances for UNCW, but what if the CAA number one seed doesn’t win three straight games this weekend? UNCW head coach Kevin Keatts answered that question Wednesday afternoon. “If something happens and we don’t come out as the CAA Tournament champion then it makes sense if your team has won 24, 25, 26, 27 games in a season then I think you’re worthy of postseason play in the biggest tournament there is which is the NCAA,” Keatts said told WWAY. “When you look at us reputation has to kick in at some point. When you think back to last year we played against a very good Duke team(in the NCAA’s) with the #1 or 2 pick in the draft and we played em down to the stretch and even led at the halftime.”

UNCW won’t hit the court in North Charleston, SC until noon on Saturday. The Seahawks will play the winner of Friday’s Hofstra-Delaware game.
