WHAT’S HAPPENING: June 28th-June 30th

CAPE FEAR (WWAY) –With summer here, things are in full swing in the cape fear. Here is Whats Happening this weekend.
In Wilmington, all the stars will be out at The Shining Stars Talent Show. This is a fundraiser event that helps support the annual Christmas giveaway for those with intellectual or developmental disabilities. This gives people an opportunity to shine by show chasing their various talents. WWAY’s Hannah Patrick will be emceeing the event and it’s happening Saturday at 1pm at Freedom Baptist Church on North College Road.
In Southport, welcome in the 4th of July early with the city’s Welcoming Ceremonies. This will include a band concert by the 440th Army Band and a reading of the Declaration of Independence by a Southport resident in a period costume. The event is free and it’s encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to the Fort-Johnston Museum and Visitors Lawn. Its happening on Friday at 203 East Bay Street at 6:00pm and Saturday at 5:45 pm on Oak Island.
In Winnabow, go try and meet the dog of your dreams at The Golf Barn. The Barking at the Barn Adoption Fair gives people an opportunity to meet and greet loving pets looking for a home. Paws Place Dog Rescue will be providing the animals, with a food truck also available. Its happening from 12pm-2pm at The Golf Barn
