Whiteville city councilwoman arrested on DWI charge

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A Whiteville city councilwoman was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with driving while impaired, according to court records.
A warrant states Helen Holden, 49, was arrested around 3 a.m. on JK Powell Boulevard after she entered the Washington Street intersection while the traffic signal was red. She is charged with DWI and failing to stop at a steady red light.
She was later released on a $1,500 bond.
Her current council term is set to expire in 2025.
