Whiteville Police warn of phone scam

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Whiteville Police Department wants to warn you about a recent phone scam.

The caller ID shows up as the Whiteville PD.

The caller informs you there are warrants for your arrest and that you need to sent payment immediately.

They say the police are outside your door waiting to arrest you.

Whiteville Police says law enforcement will never request payment to clear up warrants over the phone.
