Whiteville softball falls in 11th inning of decisive Game 3
RALEIGH, NC (StarNews) — In excruciating fashion, Whiteville’s quest for a girls state championship will have to wait another year.
The Wolfpack softball team fell to North Stanly 4-2 in 11 innings Saturday in Game 3 of the NCHSAA 1A State Championship Series.
With the score tied 1-1 in the top of the 11th, North Stanly senior Alexa Sells smoked a two-run homer to left. The Comets got an insurance run later in the inning, but Sells’ blast on the first pitch on her at-bat proved to be the difference.
