Whiteville’s Shaun Kirk already adapting to life in Raleigh for the Wolfpack

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 29th Annual BB&T Jamboree attracted thousands of football fans on Friday night in Wilmington. This included the Kirk brothers: Whiteville basketball junior Tyrell Kirk and recent Whiteville High grad Shaun Kirk. NC State inked the basketball standout in April. Shaun Kirk attended the second summer school session in Raleigh. He’ll start the fall semester in Raleigh later this week.

A breakdown of our interview with Shaun Kirk at Friday’s BB&T Jamboree is below:

WWAY’s John Rendleman: “What have you liked the most about playing with the guys at NC State this summer as you prepare for the upcoming basketball season?”

Shaun Kirk “I like getting to know them. Getting to know their playing style and how they play the game. They’ve taught me a lot as I transition from high school to college basketball.”

“For you what’s the biggest adjustment going to be in going from Whiteville High School to the ACC with NC State?

“Basically the competition level and it’s also having to deal with time management. You have to be able to manage your time with classes and travel and everything else.”

“How much are you looking forward to wearing that red and white at the PNC Arena for NC State?”

“I’m looking forward to it a lot. I am ready and excited to win a national championship at NC State.”
