Wife pleads guilty to murdering husband

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Bladenboro woman is heading to prison for more than a decade after pleaded guilty yesterday to murdering her husband more than two year ago.

Becky Johnson Nance pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the February 2013 shooting death of Dewey Franklin Nance, according to her attorney Mike McGuinness.

On the morning of Feb. 8, 2013, Bladen County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on NC 410 after Becky Nance, then 53, called 911 saying her 55-year-old husband had been shot. Investigators say when dispatch asked Mrs. Nance how her husband had been shot, she admitted she had pulled the trigger.

When officers arrived, they say Becky Nance calmly walked outside and let them arrest her. They charged her at the time with first degree murder and took her to a facility in Raleigh after she said she might harm herself.

A judge sentenced Becky Nance to 14 years to 17 years and 10 months in prison with credit for the time she has served since her arrest.
