William, Ava top NC baby names

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A couple of classic names were the most popular for babies in the Tar Heel state last year.

The Social Security Administration announced today that William was the top boys name in 2014 in North Carolina, while Ava was the most popular name for baby girls.

Last week the SSA released the top names across the country, led by Noah for boys and Emma for girls. Both those names ranked in the top five in North Carolina.
