Wilmington bar holds benefit supporting area resident who lost home to house fire
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A night of laughter and music was held at Reggie’s Bar in Wilmington on Saturday afternoon to help raise money for a resident who lost their home to a house fire.
A year ago, Michael Millis’ sister Steph lost her home in a house fire and he wanted to help her get back on her feet.
Several area comedians and bands performed as part of the event while several businesses donated gifts to be raffled off to raise funds for Steph.
Millis said it’s great to see a community come together to try and help someone they don’t even know.
“People get broken down and they lose things and all we can do as a community is to try and build everything back up,” Millis said. “And even if just one of us is down and out, we can all come together to bring that person back up.”
Millis also said this could become a yearly event to show support for other people affected by house fires or other tragedies.
