Wilmington based non-profit “Welcome Home Angel” surprises teen with fresh new room
WILLARD, NC (WWAY News) — A local teen is enjoying a fresh new room of his own tonight, thanks to the Wilmington nonprofit “Welcome Home Angel”.
Carter Rouse is fourteen years old and has Down’s Syndrome.
On Wednesday, Welcome Home Angel showed Carter the brand new, thoughtfully designed room that they created just for him.
His room features customized furniture, storage solutions, and a comfortable bed.
Carter wasn’t the only one who got a new room.
His sister, brother, and mom all got updated rooms and there were improvements made to the home’s living room and kitchen.
April Jones said that Carter having his room will help him in a big way.
“I feel like it’s going to teach him independence, help him to be more organized, help him to keep his things in the right places,” Jones said. “And that all plays a part in teaching him being an independent person.”
This is the 75th project Welcome Home Angel has completed since the nonprofit began nearly 20 years ago.
