Wilmington based team wins national baseball tournament
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WWAY) –The Rock Solid 14 and under red team won the Triple Crown Summer Nationals over the weekend.. They knocked off the Arena Starz National 14u from Abingdon, Maryland in the championship game 6-4. The game was played at TicketReturn.com field, home of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Matthew Suggs was named tournament MVP and Brett Kemp was named team MVP. Rock Solid 14 and under red is based out of Wilmington. They had an 8-1 overall record in the Myrtle Beach baseball event.
Rock Solid also has three teams competing in Cooperstown, New York this week. 104 teams are participating. The pool portion of the event is now complete. The single elimination portion of the tournament will start on Wednesday. Rock Solid red and blue both enter the elimination part of the tournament with perfect 6-0 records.
