Wilmington businesses look to capitalize on Pokemon Go craze
WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — As Pokemon Go players shuffle around the Port City staring into their phones to catch Pokemons, businesses are now trying to catch the players.
Several local establishments have used the gaming app as a way to bring in customers, capitalizing on the national craze.
The virtual reality game has revived the 1990’s craze that found players hunting down fantastical creatures and battling them. The now-mobile Pokémon Go app uses a Google map overlay to pinpoint the player’s location and assign nearby notable spots as Pokestops, where they can pick up items to help further the game.
