Wilmington chef Dean Neff honored at statewide hospitality awards

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington chef and restaurant owner Dean Neff received statewide recognition Monday night at the 2026 Stars of the Industry Awards, honoring leadership and community service within North Carolina’s hospitality industry.
Neff, owner and chef of Seabird in Wilmington, was presented with the Ken Conrad Award for Service to the Community during the ceremony hosted by the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association in Durham.
The award recognizes those who demonstrate a commitment to serving others and supporting their communities through their work in hospitality.
Twenty members of North Carolina’s hospitality industry were honored across 10 award categories during the event, which highlighted excellence in performance, service and leadership.
Neff has earned regional attention for his culinary work and involvement in the Wilmington community. Organizers said the award reflects both professional achievement and contributions beyond the kitchen.
“Our industry is built on people — leaders, teams and innovators who show up every day to serve their communities,” said NCRLA President and CEO Allen Thomas in a statement. “The 2026 Stars of the Industry honorees represent the very best of hospitality in North Carolina.”
The Ken Conrad Award for Service to the Community also recognized Ashley and Red Harrell, owners of Birdies and Gaffer’s in Emerald Isle.
The North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association represents more than 20,000 businesses statewide, according to the organization.
