Wilmington chef wins big on Food Network’s “Chopped”
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — In an episode of Food Network’s “Chopped,” Wilmington chef Nick Chavez emerged victorious, showcasing his culinary skills on the national level.
The episode, aptly titled “Death is Not an Option,” featured a wild array of ingredients, including a whole skinned alligator, adding an extra layer of challenge to the competition.
Chavez, who co-owns “The Dough House” in downtown Wilmington, is no stranger to the spotlight. Last year, he competed on “Beachside Brawl.”
When the chance to appear on “Chopped” presented itself, Chavez eagerly embraced the opportunity, ready to test his skills and creativity.
Reflecting on his experience, Chavez described the competition as a dream come true. “Being on ‘Chopped’ allowed me to unleash my creativity, think on my feet, and feel that rush of adrenaline again,” he said. “It felt like I was a young chef all over again, and it brought back so many cherished memories from my earlier career.”
Excited about the future, Chavez plans to invest his prize money into a new business venture in the Wilmington area.
