Wilmington City Council candidates answer questions during town hall

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Candidates for Wilmington City Council met for a town hall on Monday evening at Northside Church off North College Road.

More than 50 people attended the town hall, which was organized by a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization called Braver Angels.

Seven candidates, who are running for 3 spots on the City Council, were asked questions related to 4 major topics: homelessness, crime and safety, affordable housing, and development.

Wilmington resident Jeff Watson said Monday was an opportunity to see how the candidates could work together.

“So it’s great to get a sense of which ones are going to, the dynamic that they bring and get a sense of which ones are going to bring a balance of perspective,” Watson said. “I don’t want all of one, all of the other. I want to have the balance so it’s great to see the candidates come out and share from their own personal perspectives.”

If you want to vote on Election Day this year, November 4th, you’ll have to register to vote by Friday.

You can still register and vote at the same time during the early voting period, which runs from October 16th through November 1st.
