WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Salette Andrews, has been re-appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2025 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) Federal Advocacy Committee.
Councilmember Andrews was appointed to a second one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on sustainability, climate change, community resilience, water infrastructure, solid waste management, and more. The appointment was announced by NLC President Steve Patterson, Mayor of Athens, Ohio.
“I am honored to be re-appointed to NLC’s EENR Committee, because it’s an opportunity to ensure Wilmington’s needs and priorities are part of the national conversation on sustainability and resilience,” Andrews said. “As our city faces challenges like flooding, coastal protection, and responsible development, this role allows me to advocate for policies and resources that directly impact our community. I am committed to continuing to find innovative solutions and best practices that will help Wilmington grow sustainably while preserving our natural environment for future generations.”
As a member of NLC’s EENR Committee, Councilmember Andrews will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns, and villages before Congress, with the administration and at home in Wilmington.
“NLC’s federal advocacy committees are vital for uplifting the voices and needs of America’s 19,000 cities, towns, and villages to decision-makers in Washington,” said National League of Cities President Steve Patterson, Mayor of Athens, Ohio. “I am excited to work with Councilmember Andrews and look forward to supporting her vision and leadership as she serves on the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee this year and helps grow the partnership between local and federal leaders.”
