Wilmington FD provides update on firefighter injured in explosion
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — We have an update on a Wilmington Firefighter that was severely burned in an explosion last month.
On August 19, a crashed car triggered a gas explosion at an animal hospital on New Centre Drive.
Five firefighters who were inside were injured.
One of those firefighters was airlifted to UNC Chapel Hill with life-threatening burns. That firefighter underwent surgery at the hospital.
On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the fire department says that firefighter is now at home recovering with his family.
All other firefighters have been treated for their injuries.
