Wilmington Fire Department hosting 2nd annual food drive

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Fire Department is once again teaming up with a local nonprofit to feed those in need.

The fire department is hosting its second annual food drive this year in collaboration with Nourish NC.

Non-perishable items collected will be sent to Nourish NC’s market on Market Street and for their backpack program to feed families across the Cape Fear.

Last year the fire department collected more than 1300 lbs. of food. Fire Chief Steve Mason says they’re hoping to beat that number this year.

“We just want to keep doing it. We were so successful with it and we want to try to do it again and maybe we can be even more successful this year,” Mason said.

To make a donation, you can stop by any fire station in city limits.

You can view a list of Nourish NC’s most needed items on their website.
