Wilmington Fire Dept. responds to early morning house fire


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Crews with Wilmington Fire Department responded early Monday morning to a residential fire.

According to tweets posted by the department, it happened at 717 N. 5th Street.

The department said officials were dispatched just after 4:30 a.m. and the fire was under control in a matter of minutes. No injuries were reported; however, a pet cat was rescued, given oxygen and appeared to be in stable condition.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
