Wilmington Health Access for Teens relocates to new facility

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Health Access for Teens, a program of Coastal Horizons, is relocating to a larger facility at 1414 and 1404 Medical Center Drive in Wilmington.
The new location will open for in-person services and appointments on August 19, 2024.
According to a news release, the move, made possible by state budget funding, comes in response to the growing demand for WHAT’s services. During the last fiscal year, WHAT served 2,021 patients, resulting in more than 13,691 patient visits. Coastal Horizons says the new facility will allow the organization to continue providing high-quality care to the increasing number of adolescents and young adults in New Hanover County.
“We are thrilled to see Wilmington Health Access for Teens move into a new space that reflects the growth and success of the program,” said Margaret Weller-Stargell, President & CEO of Coastal Horizons. “This move not only represents our commitment to serving the youth in our community but also ensures that we can continue to meet the increasing demand for our services.”
Amanda Ronne, WHAT Program Director, emphasized the benefits of the expanded space. “Our new facility on Medical Center Drive will allow us to expand our integrated services and enhance the quality of care we provide to our patients. With over 13,000 visits last year, this new space will support our mission to serve even more youth and young adults in the region. We look forward to welcoming our patients to our new home.”
Wilmington Health Access for Teens operates school-based and school-linked health centers offering comprehensive primary care, mental health care, psychiatric care, and preventative services. WHAT serves adolescents and young adults aged 6-24, with a focus on medically underserved and vulnerable populations.
