Wilmington hit-and-run suspect identified as local dance company founder

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a moped driver critically injured early Wednesday morning.
According to an arrest warrant, Kevin Lee-Y Green, 39, is accused of failing to stop after the collision, leaving the victim in the street with a serious brain injury. The warrant states the victim remains in critical condition.
Green was arrested on Saturday and is charged with felony hit and run/serious injury/death and driving while license revoked.
The Wilmington Police Department responded to the crash around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Market Street and North 16th Street. Officers determined that a moped operator had been struck by a vehicle that fled the area.
Police said earlier that the suspect vehicle was believed to be a gray, mid-size SUV with windshield damage.
Court documents show Green appeared before a judge Monday afternoon and waived his right to assigned counsel.
Green is the founder and artistic director of Techmoja Dance and Theater Company, a Wilmington-based performing arts organization.
