WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Housing Authority (WHA) announced progress on redevelopment and rehabilitation.

In a press release, WHA highlighted four key initiatives the redevelopment of the historic Hillcrest community, transformation of Houston Moore, rehabilitation of Solomon Towers, and rehabilitation and new construction at Jervay.

Chief Executive Officer Tyrone Garrett announced progress in advancing the Hillcrest Master Plan, an effort designed to transform the historic site into a modern, inclusive and sustainable neighborhood.

The Phase 1 development is supported by a $5.7 million grant from the New Hanover County Endowment.

The Wilmington Housing Authority says their goal is to not only preserve but enhance Wilmington’s neighborhoods.
