Wilmington man charged in fatal 11th Street shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in November.

The Wilmington Police Department says Steven Ray Berg III, 26, is charged with first-degree murder, discharge firearm enclosure, and accessory after the fact for the murder of Titus Vaughn on November 13.

Just before 8:30 p.m. that Friday, Wilmington police responded to the 100 block of S. 11th St. in reference to a Shotspotter alert. When officers arrived, they found Vaughn, 26, suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was taken to NHRMC, where he later died.

Berg was arrested at his home in Wilmington on Tuesday and is being held at the New Hanover County Jail without bond.
