WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man has been charged with insurance fraud.

Shaquan Samir Walker, 31, was arrested May 3rd and charged with the felony.

Walker is accused of altering hospital and doctor visit documents in an accidental health insurance claim with Voya Financial.

He was released on $2,500 unsecured bond.

“Insurance fraud hits consumers in the wallet,” Commissioner Causey said. “Approximately 20 cents of every insurance premium dollar go to covering the cost of fraud. I’m fighting this by aggressively pursuing and prosecuting insurance fraud in North Carolina.”
