Wilmington man charged with murder in Dawson Street shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting over the weekend on Dawson Street.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, 46-year-old Marvin Singleton was taken into custody Wednesday.
Police say Singleton is charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and parole violation.
Investigators say Singleton shot and killed 26-year-old Demetria Ingram early Sunday morning in the 1300 block of Dawson Street.
Officers first responded just before 1:25 a.m. on March 8 after a ShotSpotter alert indicated gunfire in the area. When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She later died from her injuries.
Singleton is being held without bond at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
