Wilmington man convicted of 2021 murder

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man has been convicted of a 2021 murder.
Adrian Point, 32, of Wilmington pled guilty in New Hanover County Superior Court to second degree murder and possession of firearm by a convicted felon.
Judge Frank Jones of New Hanover County sentenced Point Wednesday morning to a total minimum of 24 years (288 months) and a total maximum term of nearly 30 years (358 months) in the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.
On March 11, 2021 a Shotspotter alert indicated that six shots were fired near the intersection 6th and Nixon Streets. When officers responded they discovered Oarmonz Days, 23, had been shot four times in the back. Days died of these gunshot wounds shortly after being transported to the hospital.
Video surveillance of the incident depicted a man dressed in all white had walked across Nixon Street towards Days and began shooting him from behind while the victim was in conversation with a friend. Point was identified as this shooter dressed in white by witnesses on scene and by a Facebook photo that showed him wearing the same outfit days before the shooting.
“The defendant is going to spend at least twenty-four years of his life in prison based on this ruthless murder of Mr. Days. That was a very important number for the victim’s family because Oarmonz was just three days shy of his 24th birthday when he was killed. We are happy to get justice for Mr. Days and his family with this plea,” Assistant District Attorney Brad Matthews said. “Senseless gun violence, such as this, will absolutely not be tolerated in this community,” District Attorney Ben David said.
