WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man will spend up to 33 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of attempted murder in a shooting at a downtown night club.

According to a press release, Antonio Beatty, age 30, was also convicted of two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with the Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Carrying a Concealed Gun, and Carrying a Gun into an Establishment that Serves Alcohol.

Wilmington police officers stationed outside of Pravda nightclub on north front street heard multiple gunshots inside on April 14th, 2024. They found one victim on the floor of the club with multiple gunshot wounds to the side and stomach. The victim nearly died and underwent multiple surgeries in the weeks that followed.

Evidence showed Beatty was targeting the victim, but a bystander was also shot with a non-life threatening injury.

Beatty had previously been charged with murder in 2015 but was found not guilty.
