Wilmington man faces more than 11 years in prison following Retail Store Crime Spree

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Leon Ross Jr., a 60-year-old man from Wilmington, pled guilty last week to sixteen counts of Habitual Larceny arising from thefts in Wilmington retail stores beginning in November of 2024.

An individual qualifies for Habitual Larceny if they commit any larceny, and have previously been convicted of larceny four times.

Ross’s criminal record includes felony and misdemeanor larceny convictions, as well as a number of other convictions.

Wilmington Police Department Detectives began investigating Ross after he was caught on surveillance footage at Lululemon at Mayfaire Town Center, in November of 2024.

From November of 2024, to December of 2025, Ross committed additional larcenies at multiple Wilmington retail stores.

Ross was sentenced to serve a 128-166 month active sentence, followed by a 12-24 month active sentence. Ross was also ordered to pay restitution if he is granted work release as part of his post release supervision.
