Wilmington man facing drug charges following traffic stop

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department arrested a man on drug charges after a traffic stop Wednesday morning.
According to police, units conducted a traffic stop in the 2900 block of Clayton Place.
Tyree Johnson, 28, attempted to run away but was quickly taken into custody.
Officers located more than 50 bindles of heroin, just over 14 grams of crack cocaine, and methamphetamine.
Johnson has been charged with Felony Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, PWIMSD Cocaine, PWIMSD Schedule II Controlled Substance, Assault on Government Official/LEO, Resist/Delay/Obstruct, and Probation Violation, among other charges. He is currently being held without bond at the NHSO Detention Center.
