Wilmington man pleads guilty to numerous drug charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man will spend up to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to a slew of drug charges on Monday in New Hanover County Superior Court.
Kinwan Long, 45, also admitted to being a habitual felon.
According to a news release from the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office, Long has an extensive criminal history that includes multiple drug related convictions and various crimes of violence.
The district attorney’s office says a confidential informant was used to purchase drugs from Long in June of 2023 on two separate occasions. While Long was believed to have been selling heroin, the substances were later tested and found to contain fentanyl.
Detectives with the Wilmington Police Department searched Long’s residence on McClelland Drive. Inside, they found over 20 grams of cocaine, 68 dosage units of fentanyl, marijuana and other substances, along with drug paraphernalia and over $2500 in cash.
Long has been in custody since his arrest on August 17, 2023.
