Wilmington native, Hoggard grad named Dollar General CEO

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Hoggard High School grad and Wilmington native has been named the new leader of Dollar General.

The company’s board of directors named Todd Vasos Dollar General’s chief executive officer and elected him to the board. Vasos, who has been the company’s chief operating officer moves into the CEO role Wednesday succeeding Rick Dreiling, who is retiring.

“I am excited and honored to have the privilege to lead Dollar General,” Vasos said in a news release. “I believe Dollar General has an exciting future ahead and look forward to continuing to work with our talented employees to provide our customers with the everyday low prices that they count on from Dollar General.”

Vasos joined Dollar General in December 2008.
