Wilmington organization hosts ”Black Family Wellness Expo”
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– How one organization is trying to help and empower black communities all throughout Wilmington.
On Saturday, The Wilmington North Carolina Chapter of the Links Incorporated invited the entire community to participate in the Black Family Wellness Expo.
The event featured line dancing, speakers, and a variety of different resources to help raise awareness of health conditions that affect quality of life for families.
Wendy Lofton, the Chair for the health and human service for the organization, says events like these really help out the community.
“It’s important that they know where their getting resources, and there are resources available to them. That is a lot of the problem when we try to get the community to take care of themselves, a lot of times they don’t know where they to go or where to start. One of the biggest things we did this year, is have care giving resources.
