Wilmington Police arrest two people following traffic stop

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two people were arrested Monday evening following a traffic stop.
Officers say they were dispatched to the 200 block of North 9th Street around 11:00 p.m. regarding a suspicious person. The person calling 911, who remained anonymous, was able to provide enough information for officers to act.
Units located the vehicle and the occupants. When officers investigated further, they say they discovered drugs in the vehicle and a handgun. Police say the handgun was in the possession of 41-year-old Damien Shareef Allen, a Wilmington man.
Allen was arrested for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana. Allen is currently in the New Hanover County Detention Center and is being held without bond.
The driver of the vehicle is identified as Tasheena Williams, a 28-year-old woman from Wilmington. Williams was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant.
