Wilmington police identify victim in Dawson Street homicide

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police have identified the woman killed in a shooting early Sunday morning as a 29-year-old Wilmington resident.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, Demetria Ingram died after officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation just before 1:25 a.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of Dawson Street.
When officers arrived, they found Ingram suffering from a gunshot wound. Police said she died from her injuries.
Investigators say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident.
Detectives say dozens of people were present in the area at the time of the shooting and are asking anyone who may have witnessed what happened to come forward.
Police say investigators are actively following leads but are seeking additional information from the public.
